From what I have read and what doctors have told me the answer is yes. You should eventually achieve complete clearance unless you use steroids again.
However, I have read that if you are predisposed to rosacea, meaning you were eventually going to get it in your later years, then it may not go away. And this is the issue that goes through my head....only time will tell.
Also, our fallen angel on this site told me that the steroids have altered the dermis permanently and the only way to fix it is IPL.....this will not come as a surprise to many of the veterans on this forum.
However, Dr. Rapaport, who has written several papers on this subject disagrees with the fallen angel....and I find comfort in that. |

From what I've read- and believe me I've read A LOT of stuff online- steroid rosacea should clear up. It can take a long time, though.
The p&p's are a lot easier to clear (using antibiotics and metrogel) than the redness. I think Metrogel and possibly Protopic are meds that can help with redness, but for some people it makes it worse b/c their skin is so sensitive and damaged.
I am using Atopiclair- a nonmedicated but prescription lotion. I've only used it a few times, but I can already see a slight decrease in the redness of my damaged areas. I think it's going to take a while, though. I just have to learn to be patient and get some good makeup! |
