Hi everyone,
Yay! I have finally come to the point where I can happily say my meds are working! I've been on doxy (50 mg) for over 4 weeks now and have been using finacea for nearly 3 weeks and my skin looks better than it has in months! I still have some bumps and some red spots where there used to be bumps. I now have some fresh bumps on my forehead (5) so I started using the finacea there too. My skin feels softer and smoother and the redness has also faded a bit. I am planning to finish this course of doxy (3 months total) and then solely rely on finacea. I am now using finacea once a day and want to go up to twice, but my skin still has to get used to it. I can use it in the morning, after my shower, without any stinging. But when I use it in the evening it stings like hell, my cheeks turn red and very itchy. Anyhow, I am really happy with the results so far and hope I'll continue to improve.

| Great news Angela! Congrats! Doxy cleared me too, but the pimples came back some weeks after I stopped doxy. I hope it will be different for you - I also see that you got a longer term doxy (3 months, I only got one). In another topic, I read that taking low dose antibiotics forever would work and being low dose, they aren't bad for the body. Do you have any info on this? |

Yes they say Oracea (low dose doxy) doesn't cause the side effects that are common for normal doses of antibiotics. You can take them over a longer period of time although Oracea hasn't been tested for safety over 9 months, I believe. _________________ Currently on Finacea and doxy (50 mg) |

Thanks, Melissa. How are you doing? Still using Finacea? Have you decided yet whether or not to go back on antibiotics?
All the best,

Hey Angela,
My face was clear for the last 2 days (I was so happy, it's amazing how your mood can so easily change depending on your rosacea) and then this AM I woke up with 1 small pustule but I fear it is the beginning of more little ones to come LOL.
I haven't used Finacea for the last few days but tonight I will spot treat the pustule and will see what happens.
I am holding off on the antibiotic route as of now but it is always an option if necessary.
Interestingly, I have been reading all about Dan's treatment for his rosacea on cpnhelp.org
http://www.cpnhelp.org/?q=facing_cure_reds_rosacea_
And it is so fascinating. It basically states that many chronic diseases are due to infection with chlamydia pneumoniae and I so wish I could try this treatment. I asked my derm last year and he refused but I think I will try again.
I hope you continue to do well Angela! It seems as if you have found your winning combo!!
Best wishes,
Melissa |

Hey, glad to hear it's working for you.
I was put on this same combo exactly a year ago now, it worked awesome for a few months then slowly waned and now I don't notice any difference in static redness at all when I use the meds and don't. It's a pity, good things don't last it seems.
Hope you don't come to the same disappointing conclusion as myself : / |

NPJF,
That's too bad! I'm sorry for you. Can imagine how you'd feel if something that worked stops doing that! I'm hoping my improvement continues... And hope you'll find something else that works for you!
