I have sinus issues. I can not be sure if it related to the rosacea. I might never know. I take Claritin and I do better when my head is elavated when I am sleeping. If I sleep with my head completely down I wake with a headache.

I am very much allergic to wheat and yeast. I try very hard to stay away from that stuff. I rarely eat carbs although I do have a sweet tooth. I purchase wheat free, yeast free, gluten free cookies and snacks at our local health food store. But of course sometimes I slip.

I use Claritin but not daily. Sometimes I go through periods where I take the Claritin daily. I was on the Nasonex nasal spray but as long as I sleep with my pillow elevated I do not need the spray. I have also done the Nasal Irrigation they sell at most drug stores. It works great! I usually have to do it more often in the summer and spring when the pollen picks up.

I believe that my (opinion) rosacea is connected to yeast and wheat. I also have a theory that my sinus issues are as well.

I went a month where I ate only chicken and veggies and my rosacea cleared. But who can eat like that all the time?

Try an antihistamine that works for you. Do a Nasal Irrigation every morning and at night and continue to sleep with your head elevated. Stay on a clean diet and do not sleep in a stuffy hot over heated room.

I forgot to mention that food allergies can cause post nasal drip ( mucus in the throat) that can led to sinus issues.

Facial nerve pain is not uncommon with rosacea. Folks here have commented on it and some find Lyrica works, I find gabapetin helps (somewhat).

Hi Thank you for your reply its good to be able to talk to someone who has also experienced this.

Have you food testing done to say your allergic?I eat such a boring diet. I have cut out dairy and wheat, though do have one wheat roll at lunch and that is it. I do eat yeast based things mainly only baxters gluten free pototo and leek /chicken and vegtable soup and the roll. I cook everything myself and dont eat anything processed.I also dont eat anything sugary. So my diet is good really.

I have also been using the Nasal Irrigation and will carry on using it daily.

What are your Rosecea syptoms hope you mind me asking?Mines flushing, redness only when i flush, do get burning sensations too,I flush to alot of triggers.

Hi Twickle Purple,

How are you doing these days? Not spoke to you for a while?

I was on Lyrica at the start last year for a good few months. I did find it helped but caused alot weight gain and muscle pain in my legs so unfortunley had to stop. Is there any other things you know of that help face pain?

Do you find gabapetin to cause side effects?Do you still take it?

I would say I have a sensitivity to wheat and yeast or an intolerance. It is rare to have a true allergy. But it was an allergy test (lol). If I eat that stuff my ears even turn red. If I over indulge I start to cough and have post nasal drip. And I just don't feel great eating that junk anyways all together.

My rosacea is redness, i don't flush very often anymore, and itchy. My rosacea is mild due to what I eat and taking care of my skin. But believe me when I first found out I was horrified. I got the burning sensation early on in the beginning of my rosacea. I can't drink alcohol either. I pay for weeks. I use to love White Zinfandel but I get a true nasty allergic reaction to it. I get red welps on my face just awful.

Hi Sarah,

I found the gabapentin (Neurontin) did not have a sustained benefit and I did not like the fog it gave me. I still get the tingles and face pain but am a lot better off since using RLT. I have some smaller devices that I use directly on my skin for the nerve pain and it is effective. RLT has been proven effective for facial neuralgias (and pain in general); I've posted a link somewhere here on a study about this.

I buy small RLT units every now and then to test out and presently I'm using a little Tanda handheld on my facial nerve pain areas. The thing beeps constantly which is annoying but it helps alot.

Cheers!

Wow! I was going to start a simillar thread about nerve problems.

My biggest thing...and I don't know if it has anything to do with rosacea or not...but,

In and around my left temple of my eye, I get this strage sensation of a crawly tingly feeling.

I have been to a neurologist anda rhematologist.

With my own discoveries I have found with my long eye lashes that the top lashed will tangle with the bottom lashes causing the hairs to tickle the crows feet area of my eye.

I have been dealing with this for months...and everytime I think I got the reason nailed down...I can't figure it out.

The next thing I found was a teeny-tiny pimple on my eye lid and a patch of dry skin on the lid.

I did notice everytime the hair from my head touch the left side of my face it drives the skin and nerves nuts!!!

Who knows???
The docs said everything was ok. There was nothing on the MRI's, and the blood work was ok aside from a positive ANA test. (That's why I went to the rhematologist)

He said it might be Sjogrens...which can effect the nerves.
I don't think he knows...
So I am going back for more blood work at the end of the month, so we'll see how that goes.

And I have had allergy problems in the past.

WOW. I have a pressure sensation around my left temple! I have been feeling this for years, but never found it too important to ask the doc about it.

I found this on a US website for Natural Remedies last year as I've had sinus problems for years. It works BRILLIANTLY--try it when you've got a general cough/cold/flu too.

1 drinking cup of tomato juice
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco (or other hot) sauce
I also add a small piece of crushed ginger.

Mix together, heat and drink.
It really does help sinusitis.
I've used it today and felt better in an hour.
