thanks

Yes, I received my Sandalwood oil in the post today too, Flemmo. But unlike you, I ripped the envelope open and applied it straight away. I'm hoping for a miracle, remember!!

That was half an hour ago and I haven't had an adverse reaction (as yet). My skin is super-sensitive so it's probably safe for you to try. Alternatively, the company I bought it from suggests diluting it in almond oil.

The smell isn't as strong as I thought it would be and I'm glad about that. I applied it to my cheeks and forehead where the skin has been very spotty and flakey recently.

I'll post any news, good or bad.

Hi all,

I am brand new here and searching for solutions. I am very curious to see if the sandalwood oil helps as I have tried so many things over the years. I have searched online and have located sources of pure sandalwood oil (no other ingredients at all). I want to order some but am interested in seeing if any of you who have already ordered other products have had good results.

Thanks

Thanks Flemmo.

so what is being talked about here is the essential oil.

Essential oils are completely different from normal oil.
In fact, essential oils are not "oily" at all, they are obtained by distillation and incredibly potent.

Thanks for that information Contessa. I'm using Sandalwood Mysore Essential oil. It cost £17.01 for 5mls which is quite pricey compared to Flemmo's purchase. But it goes on well and so far I haven't had any bad reaction.

My whole face has been very dry recently, probably due to the winter weather, so at least this oil manages to disguise the flakiness. I still have numerous red marks on my upper cheeks but no new pustules. It's too early to tell if the Sandalwood oil is making any kind of difference.

I note in the original article in The Times the writer said that "the symptoms started to improve within a few days..." so I'm not expecting my miracle to happen overnight.

Has anyone else tried using this oil? Please let me know.

Sally, here is a small link explaining what EO are:

I have tried some for my rosacea but they only aggravated my state I must say. But I know that some persons tolerate them.

Hi Sally

Hows the sandalwood oil working out for you? Its been a week, so I was wondering if you have seen any positive/negative effects?

Well, I have been using a few drops of Sandalwood oil mixed with almond oil each day but, as Contessa mentioned, it is quite potent so I cut down the application to once a day and mixed it with a base oil to be on the safe side.

So far it hasn't proved to be the miracle cure I am looking for as my Rosacea has remained pretty much the same. I do wonder if the writer of the original article had such amazing success because of its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which would probably help seb derm or something similar.

The tiny red spots I have on my cheeks are clumps of veins and I am investigating another procedure called Veinwave - a treatment that uses a technique known as thermo-coagulation and is widely used for Rosacea.

I will continue to use Sandalwood oil because everything seems to take longer on me than most people. So watch this space and I will certainly report back if it begins to work.

Has anyone else tried this oil with, or without, success?
