I had cpn (also called TWAR) in the beginning of 2007. It took me some time to figure that out, but eventually I found a doctor that immediately knew what to test for. The problem was that the infections did not show up on normal bacterial blood test's like CRP used by most doctors, so thats why everybody told me I had a virus infection and it was nothing to do about it.
But eventually I took the right tests revealing that I had both TWAR and Mycoplasma infection. The symptoms in my case was severe energy loss (CFS), feeling generally ill, and in the beginning I also had a fever (but that subsided after a week or so). I also had this dry coughing, some days pretty ill and other days not present. After testing positive I got a 1 week cure consisting mainly of Klacid (Clarithromycin) and a local brand of Ethylmorphin for the coughing. The antibiotics had immediate effects, after just 3 days I had much more energy and the coughing was almost gone. After 1 week I felt fine, and I was sure I had got rid of the shit. Another week went by, and during that week I felt the symptoms come creeping back again. By the weekend I was almost back where I started. So I got another batch of Klacid, this time for 2 weeks. Luckily that did the thing So I got rid of it and haven't had any problems with it since.
So what happened to my rosacea during all this? Nothing...It has been there long before, and I still have it
Just so you know, my rosacea is only erythema (semi permanent on the cheeks and permanent on the nose), and no P&P (maybe only very few very small red pustules somewhat scattered around the red areas, but not dominating). So the antibiotics did nothing for me in that area. I would suspect people with more P&P would benefit more from the antibiotics. I had a clear up for some days (during the antibiotics), but then I got a serious flushing again (also during the antibiotics). So it could have been other factors as well, some days I have remission out of no apparent reason
So thats why I have ruled out this possible cause for me. Maybe it's part of the cause, but not the main cause for me. I have to admit that I haven't been quite myself energy wise after the sickness, but it's nothing like it was then, and the Rosacea is as I said pretty unchanged. |

dpart, thanks for the info. I also think that the chances of Cpn involvement are much higher for rosaceans with P&P/swelling. _________________ KNOWLEDGE = POWER |

Yes dpart, thanks so much for the info.
So what are you do in terms of treating your rosacea now?
Best wishes,
Melissa
PS How long were you on the cpn protocol in total? I was under the impression that you needed to be on it for many many months even if you are feeling better in order to get rid of it. It's a tricky bacteria.
Thanks! |

I was "officially" sick for around 4 months in total in 2006 and 2007 (but my body has been fighting the disease for longer than that). First there was one week with extreme fever touching 41 degrees Celsius, and then after another week I got better and went back to work again. After that episode I felt the extreme lack of energy, I had to lie down all the time. Work was a total nightmare, but it ain't easy when you don't have any other symptoms than lack of energy to ask for a sick leave. Luckily for me there was this long Christmas vacation so I had time to rest. After Christmas there was a small change, some days were OK and others bad.
Since I always have been in good shape and exercised a lot I remember that I was eager to start exercising again. One day I felt I had plenty of energy, and I went to the gym. Stupid..stupid! The day after I felt really miserable, my throat was sandpaper dry and filled with mucous at the same time. The fever came back also for some time a week or so (but not 41 degrees this time) and I then started my sick leave from work and my hunt for what disease had struck me. Since the fever went quick down and the only symptoms after was this dreaded energy loss and general ill feeling in the body, there was after some time hard for me to argue with the doctors to extend my sick leave. I did this "doctor jumping" because I knew there was something, some disease, causing all this, even if the words "burnt out" and "depressed" came up all the time
Lucky for me after some time I started having this nasty coughing that wouldn't stop so the doctors could now see that there was this "outside symptom", that had to be caused by either a virus or bacteria. I then found the good doctor I was talking about in the previous post, and eventually started the antibiotics. I was only on antibiotics on 3 weeks total, but that did so much for me that my body could start healing itself. I had huge improvements for only some days with antibiotics. Several months after ending the antibiotics I felt that I was not totally ridden of the bacteria, but I didn't want to use more antibiotics than absolutely necessary. And it seemed like the body had the upper hand in the fight again go go immune defense hehe!
As for my Rosacea I'm at the moment believing in the theories about digestion and the gut (finding this forum and the post about HCL made me start to think about this issue again). So I have been detoxing, started with pro- and pre-biotics, Aloe Vera drink, Molkosan, Kefir and some dieting stuff (inspired by Weston A Price foundation). I had some relief when starting, but there has been ups and downs. I am sure I haven't been structured enough yet.
Since I am new on this forum I was wondering if I should make a post to structure my self and my findings and to get motivation to do some more serious testing to narrow down the cause. Earlier I have been testing IPL, different lotions and creams, vitamins and stuff with different results.
Best wishes to you as well, this is a great forum! |
