The burning is subsiding, the flaking is getting a little better, too. My face feels almost smooth to the touch, but of course is still pretty red. It's the itching that I can't handle!
It's not even like itching, it's more like this weird sensation all over my face, like my skin is CRAWLING! Is this what your itching feels like, too?
It is seriously drivig me insane. Antihistamines don't seem to be helping, either. I'm trying so hard not to scratch it. Instead I just press on it, sometimes with my fingernails, just to relieve it for a few seconds. Last night I basically went to sleep with ice on my face. I can't take it anymore!!! When will the freakin' itching/skin crawling stop!?!?

I am going through the exact same thing! I am still red, but it's slowly getting better. But I itch so bad I can't take it sometimes. And that crawling sensation is right on. I mean I have what you would call a regular itch, but the last couple days I've had the crawling feeling. I didnt pay much attention to it then, but it happens a lot more now.
I do the same thing to try and relieve the itch....I dont want to scratch it because it hurts and I know its still healing. I just try to apply pressure.
I dont have a solution, but it feels so good to hear that someone else it too! I was going crazy!!
Hopefully this is just part of the healing process and it will go away soon!!!
XOXO

I'm sorry you're feeling it, too, but it helps me to know I'm not alone. I swear, my derm means well, but I wish she would just admit that yes, this is from the steroid use! I think she doesn't want to admit it b/c she feels responsible (she's kind of hinted to that). I'm so glad I can come here and find others going through the exact same thing I'm going through.
I just wish this freakin' healing process would hurry up! I really don't know how much longer I can take this constant skin itching/crawling sensation. I'm ready to rip my head off!
It's really hard to be a fun, attentive mommy to my two little ones when all I want to do is dunk my face in a bucket of ice and scream!!!!

I hate it when derms don't even listen to what you have to say. I like mine, but he thinks I just have seb derm and everything on my face is still from steriod withdrawl. That could be, but I know I have rosacea becuase I've had it my whole life. Even before steriods, and now 10 years after steriod use, its even worse!
I wish it would hurry up too, but my derm hinted around that I'm barely at the half-way point! Which does not make me happy!!
I see what your saying about that. I don't have kids, but just being around people in general is hard. I seem to have a hard time being myself, because I cant stop thinking about what I look like. I just want to dunk my head in a tub of lotion...I'm so itchy and dry!
I haven't posted pics in almost a month, if I remember I'll try and do that tonight.
XOXO

How long have you been going through it already? If your derm hinted you're not even half way there- yikes!
I was only on the topical stuff for four months, not ten years, so I don't know if that has any impact on how long it will take to heal. It probably just depends on the individual and how bad it is.
I have never been diagnosed with rosacea, but I either have pre-rosacea or rosacea-prone skin. We'll see what happens WHEN I recover from all of this.
The hardest thing for me is looking at older photos- even just before Christmas, and seeing how different I looked. I hate it!
Ugh...at least there is support here!

Stopped the Steriods in November. Lets just say the holidays weren't fun! I was put on Pred to help with the withdrawls, but I put on 25 pounds since then! That adds to my being insure and not wanting to go out in public. I go off the Pred on the 13th. So I think the derm worried about what might happen then.
I think the length your on steriods play some role, but I think your right in saying that it just depends on how well you heal. I usually heal pretty quick, so I'm hoping my doc is wrong with saying I'm just about half way through!
I do the same thing with pictures. I love taking them, and I have them all over my house. Now I just want to take them all done. I just hope one day I'll get back to that look. I feel like I've been red so long that I won't even know what I look like!
I'm glad this forum is here too. Friends and family mean well when they give you advice and tell you that you look fine...and its not that bad. They have to idea what its like. Everyone on here knows what its like to go through something like this and to be stared at all the time.
XOXO
