Hi all...this is my first post but I have been lurking here since I was diagnosed a few months back. Let me just say, I think this forum is a wonderful tool and has tons of useful info. Keep it up!
My stats: really reallly fair skin..not so much flushing but tons of Rosacea pustules.
I've been noticing something strange in my "disease". If I don't pop any of my pustules, my Rosaces doesn't "spread" but if do pop any of them (and let me tell you the yucky whiteheads are very tempting to pop) I notice that they keep spreading to the area I just popped.
Does this sound strange?? I mean, isn't it possible that the gunk that comes out of the pustules is contaminating the rest of my face?? |

| Oftentimes, when pressure is set on an infected area (like a pimple), the bacteria surrounding the area will tend to spread to surrounding areas (thus creating more pimples). This sounds like what you may be experiencing. I'd try to stop popping pimples... Spot-treat if you feel the need to do something. Best of luck! |

Hi -
Unfortunately, when you squeeze pimples/pustules, you run the risk of spreading the contents expelled to surrounding pores. Hence, more pimples and pustules. It's very tempting, and I'll fess up to doing it too, but after I saw spreading, I knew I needed to stop before more came around. My Derm. said squeezing incorrectly and without disinfecting can definitely cause more.... Can you go see your Derm. and get it checked out? Get a topical that can help dry them out (ie. maybe Finacea or Clindamycin)? Oral antibiotics like Minocycline work well too. Taking vitamins, such as Zinc, Green Tea, Taurine, Grape Seed, pro-biotics etc... can help too.
Good luck. |
