This may sound dumb but I can't remember why...but I think turkey is supposed to be a trigger....I ate some for lunch and about 30mins later my face is hurting big time! It's the only thing I can think of. Usually I can eat turkey w/o any reaction but it's only been a week since that last IPL and my intense reaction to it has me thinking the turkey is bothering me.
Anyone know?? _________________ Dx 1998

| I'm fine with poultry. I think I remember reading its high in histamine, so you might want to take an antihistamine an hour before eating it and see if it does it again - just eat turkey as a test, then at least you know for sure. |

Thanks for answering! I haven't been have experiencing a problem with turkey for a long time but I am post IPL and my face is going a bit crazy....at least I know this may be a hazard for me right now....and I believe it's just turkey not chicken as I recall Dr.Nase saying he could only eat salad and a chicken breast w/o flushing....I will stay away from the turkey for now _________________ Dx 1998

It gives a REALLY bad flush. Like no other food, im tempted to say it gives me an as bad reaction as sugar or caffeine. Good luck with IPL recovery! |

Things to Avoid:
All Animal Foods (they produce excess acids which corrode the lining of the stomach): dairy foods (milk, cheese, butter, cream, ice cream), fish, meat, chicken, turkey, eggs, fried and greasy foods, margarine, and all other processed foods and animal derived products from your diet. These foods are laced with chemicals, pesticides, and toxins as well as high levels of saturated fats which promote inflammation.
Salt, tobacco, caffeine, strong spices, sodas, coffee, sugar, and refined white flour (breads, pastas, cereals- replace with whole wheat pastas, breads, and cereals). These products are extraordinarily destructive to the skin.
Avoid extremes of temperature, especially heat. Keep baths and showers short using only warm water that you can tolerate comfortably. |

Good Lord....where did you get that list?
I am skinny to begin with....I would have to stop eating....I know I can't go without animal protien for loong w/o getting really sick. I know anything right now with pepper or spices is out of the question....my 17yr old son came home last night from work and made a TV dinner with peppers and steak...the fumes all the way back in the bedroom were making my face burn and eyes swell...I had to get the fan going to flush out the stink in my bedroom! I am tempted to take out the other TV dinners he likes and put in the trash can!! I am very reactive right now...I need everything bland _________________ Dx 1998

OH MY! I believe they suggest you eat organic and as healthy as possible if you suffer from rosacea. I know some foods even make my ears turn red! I knew packaged meats like turkey and ham were a no no , but I had no idea thanksgiving turkey was bad too!

Debatable. There are organic versions available that do not have preservatives, even lunch meats, and for many people don't cause a reaction. I eat meat at every meal and drink a gallon of milk/day, and don't have a problem with it.
Humans have been eating meat and dairy for tens of thousands of years, and on average, our bodies are good at processing them. Besides, I'm one of those people with a freakishly fast metabolism. If I don't get enough protein, I'd dry up and blow away.

Now these are things everyone can do without. |
