Hi all,

I have suffered from various stages of Rosacea for approx. 20 years and have been on various antibiotics, prescription topical agents (ie-metrogel, etc.) for just as long. I have one patch of spider veins but don't tend to have the redness so much except in the areas where I have the acne bumps, which are constant on my chin and nose.

I have monitored and changed my diet many times in an effort to find what is triggering my symptoms. I am now at a point where I am very tired of taking antibiotics and refuse to use metrogel because of its drying qualities. I have dry skin to begin with so I don't need anything to make that worse. My dermatologist gave me a supposed "calming" creme made by Aveeno which caused one of the worst breakouts I've ever had, so I ditched that one too.Rolling Eyes Oracea is the only topical agent I use now and it helps somewhat but is still drying for my skin.

A couple of months ago I switched to mineral makeup and only use a small amount of it. That takes care of the spider veins and any redness and seemed to reduce the acne bumps as well. However, I do still have bumps, the mineral makeup does not hide them well and, since the minerals are dry, my skin is still dry & flaky.

So, I am searching for non-prescription, preferably natural, remedies for the acne as well as moisturizers, primers, toners, etc. that will relieve the dryness of my skin and can be worn under the mineral makeup to prevent dryness.

I am searching your site for any topics related to what I am looking for and any suggestions will be most appreciated.

I am the only person I know who suffers from Rosacea so I am very much looking forward to getting to know people on this site.

Thank you,

bb

Hi BB,

Welcome to the Forum!

Finding natural remedies is a tough one and I can't think of any that have been successful at the moment but I can tell you what helps me with my dry skin. I use Eucerin original moisturizing cream and lotion for dry skin. It is very soothing and calming for me. I also wash with the Eucerin gel cleanser for red and irritated skin and that works well for me. I would recommend a patch test just in case you have an adverse reaction though.

Some people have had success with applying nasalcrom directly to their p&p's. It helps reduce the inflammation. Not exactly natural but not an Rx either.

Some people have been using Rosa Relief cream with success and report it feels nicely on the skin and helps moisturize and calm their face down.

For natural oral remedies there is oregano oil and also garlic that are supposed to be antibacterial and perhaps help with p&p's. I'm sure there are others but I can't think of them right now. Do a search and you should be able to find lots more info. Best of luck and I hope you find lots of helpful info here!

Best wishes,
Melissa
