Hi guys. I am new to the forum and have learned a ton for someone who was just dx'ed at 30 after having no issues since puberty. I was wondering if anyone knew of a lotion or cream that works well for redness, other than cutanix, which I see is no longer available. I am on accutane and am on a higher dose than most because the p+p's were quite cystic and got worse. I think I had some kind of reverse reaction to being on antibiotics so much throughout my life. It was strange because I tried 2 IPL's and thought they would help as I have read so many good things. They really didn't and I think the reasoning is because I had to go on and off Doxy several times due to the treatments. Suddenly after the last treatment I had a disfiguring flair and I think it had a lot to do with stopping Doxy, and possible Gram negative bacteria. I finally have the flair down a bit but at 40mgs a day the tane has me very red and I need some guidance from someone who knows. I desperately want to go down on dose soon after the p+p's are gone. Any suggestions? I hear so many good things about Quadrinone but Cutanix is unavailable now. Thanks so much and I appreciate all of the things I get to read on the forum. Thanks again, Cory

Hi -

MD Forte Hydrating Cream or possibly the new Lumeris Pyratine 6 Cream. Both are good for pre-post procedural skin and are very soothing and hydrating (and non-acnegenic). MD Forte cream is about $50 USD and the Pyratine 6 lotion or cream is $130. Pricey but they both are good. For less expensive options, I think some have used Eucerin products.

Good luck.

When I was taking Accutane my skin got very red and dry so my dermatologist advised me to use Diprobase cream. This is an emollient which softens the skin and provides a protective layer so that your own moisture isn't lost.

It's basic, but effective. It can be bought over the counter here in the UK but I'm not sure about price because my derm gave me a NHS prescription which costs around £6.

Good luck with Accutane. This worked extremely well for me but after long term use I'm trying to find something more 'natural'.
