Hi everyone,
Well it has been some time since I posted and guess I should give an update.
I had not had any problems with my Rosacea for almost 2 years. Initially it was very bad. My nose was red and swollen very bad with large pustulates. I used a course of low dose acctane for almost one year which seemed to put it into remission. My regime for maintenance was intermitent use of doxycycline and Oracea and staying away from my trigger which is alcoholic beverages.
Last November I had a rebound and it was bad. As bad as before. I did not use the doxy as much as I should have and I started what I consider moderate drinking which consisted of 3 or 4 beers three times a week. After about one month of this the Rosacea came back with vengence. I started a course of 100 mg of doxy 2X per day for one month and 100mg per day for 2 months. I believe I have my rosacea under control again but it was a bad rebound. I also developed bad flushing and a persistent red nose and a slight pink hue on my cheeks. Also I have developed 2 veins(very small) on my nose and some very small ones on my cheeks.
I went to a laser center here in Phoenix Arizona. The center is run by a physician. She explained to me what she would do and showed me the laser she uses which is a Sciton BBL with a 1064 YAG. She was very informative in her explanation. I went home and read about the Sciton. The BBL is Scitons newest IPL. Now I had a choice between this laser center and Dr Soldo whom I also admire and respect. I chose this laser center and had my first IPL today. I will keep everyone updated as to how it helps my redness on my nose and cheeks, my flushing, and my visible veins. I will have at least 4 more treatments in 3 to 4 week intervals.
Also I guess my advice to those in remission is to not let up on your maintenance program and please stay away from your triggers.
Take care,
