With regard to the effectiveness, I think all you can do is try. It depends if the bacteria have developed a resistance, through your previous use.
I'm not an expert, but I feel that 5 months might be long enough that any antibiotic-resistant bacteria would have long died out.
With regard to 'how bad' - well, I think the tetracyclines are quite broad spectrum, but not that powerful. I don't think you'll be putting your health at risk if you take them for another 2 years.
One thing you can do for your health is take a pro-biotic. Others may have other suggestions.
Personally, I have been on the tetracyclines for over 3 years. I do think I'm starting to see negative effects on my health (such as indigestion, mouth ulcers); but not massive ones. |
