Well I was running about 15 minutes late and got to the Medispa 15 minutes before they closed, but the lady who does my IPL was so sweet she didn't mind at all (her husband owns the practice). She stayed late to do my IPL... she must have pumped up the energy because my face was quite sunburnt looking afterwards though it died down in a few hours. She said that I really have seborrheic dermatitis with some rosacea as well, but she thinks much of my redness is actually from the SD (which also causes a LOT of flaking on my face) so she wrote me a prescription for ketaconozole. Lets hope I get some relief soon

Hi qscott86,

Do you know what machine they used on you? I've had IPL with the Quantum machine before, and I was very red for a few days but it really went down in about a week or so.

Regards

Chris

IPL can bring on seb derm so you may want to watch out for that for a few days. I would perhaps recommend looking in the thread linked below- Artist is having great success with Born to Be Mild face wash. The zinc in it really helps seb derm apparently:

HAve you mentioned to your surgeon that you have had IPL? Just be careful that you don't do too much soon.

My surgery doesn't involve my skin .. it involves the fat layers inside my mouth and under my chin .. the doctor at the medispa said that IPL was fine as long as I did it a week before surgery.

Good luck with it. I would definitely check out the thread I linked if you have seb derm.

Also, I do have rosacea as well so I'm not stopping IPL. I have been unable to locate any medically proven incidence of IPL "bringing on" SD. In fact, UV-A and UV-B lights (though IPL isn't either one) have been found to inhibit the growth of M. furfur which is thought to cause SD.

Sorry I wasn't clear-I meant it can bring on a flair, I didn't mean to imply that it can give you seb derm if you didnt have it before.

Dr Crouch combines IPL and low level pulse dye laser for those who suffer both rosacea and seb dem. All I meant was to watch for any worsening in your seb derm.

Yeah, I will definately be on the lookout. HOpefully the ketoconazole will help. She also suggested putting selsun blue on my face (as crazy as it may sound).

Hey qscott86,

Your face looks pretty good for right after IPL. My face looks much worse right after VBeam. I look all red and swollen...like an accident victim. Really awful! You look great considering!!

Best wishes,
Melissa
