Hi,
As we know chocolate is one of many things to avoid. But I was wondering, is it the cocoa that's the trigger or the sugar and dairy? Just wondering if sugar-free dairy-free chocolate would still be a problem? |

Hi Flemmo,
I would guess it depends on your individual triggers. People who have reactions to sugar and/or dairy and/or caffeine would do best to avoid chocolate. But not everyone has these reactions so there are those who can eat it without ill effect. In moderation I have no problem with chocolate (or caffeine or dairy).
Best wishes,
Melissa |

Hi Flemmo,
I get a horrible nose flush from the sugar in chocolate, not the cocoa. I can eat the Hersey no sugar added chocolates in moderation without a problem , which is nice since I LOVE chocolate _________________ 25, Subtype 1 |

I know I can't tolerate sugar and dairy, so I might give sugar-free, dairy-free a try over easter - just to join in a bit
With a bit of luck I'll get away with it as I love dark chocolate. |

Me too
And don't forget that dark chocolate has all those good things for us also.
So it's a delicious and somewhat healthy way to go (in moderation) |

Well I've played around with this by purchasing cocoa and adding it to soy milk for hot chocolate and I had a big reaction. I actually react more the higher the cocoa content.
Just try different combinations and see how you do. I get away with milk chocolate - 1 piece - once in a while. I have trouble with dairy so it's risky too.
Good luck! |

| I discovered that I react to cocoa...I was enjoying chocolate "pudding" once every few weeks....pure cocoa powder mixed into full fat coconut milk with stevia herbal sweetener...but realized that my skin would look red and irritated for days after doing this. SO, I don't think it's the sugar or dairy associated with chocolate that is the problem... |

Cocoa has some of the most powerful antioxidants on the planet... Very dark chocolate or pure cocoa is extremely healthy. _________________ KNOWLEDGE = POWER |
