I just read several reviews from ladies that had used the aspirin mask. Made of crushed aspirin and water, aloe vera gel or favorite moisturizer. Most of the people that used it loved it. Some didn't have such good results.
I would think that if your were allergic to aspirin you probably don't want to try it. I found the reviews under Makeupalley.com. Check it out.
Has anyone tried this? |

I tried it and liked it. My skin was very soft afterwards, and calm. I have mixed it with both water and alcohol-free aloe vera gel, and like the AVG better.

I tried this last night and it really made my skin feel good. I crushed 2 aspirin and mixed with a little water then gently put on my face. I only let it stay on for about 5 minutes because I was nervous about doing it. It made my face feel very cool. I rinsed it off and put on olive oil. My face felt cooler than normal and refreshed.
I had 1 bump that was starting to come up above my cheek. It wasn't any smaller this morning and it wasn't any bigger. So that was a plus for me. |

If you keep doing it, keep me informed. Especially if it helps your flushing/bumps. _________________ I don't want to live with it. I refuse to. |

It made my skin very soft and smooth, and reduced the redness (temporarily).

I have tried it with both water and aloe vera gel, and always leave it on my face until the mask is dry. Then I rinse it off by splashing with tepid water until it all dissolves.
I liked the aloe vera gel as a mixer better than plain water because the texture is nicer when applying, it sticks to my face better, and it is easier to get an even layer. Most important, when the mask mixed with water starts to dry, it crumbles off my face in the areas that dry first (resulting in the lovely aspirin dandruff look), but with the AVG mixer, the mask stays in place until you rinse it off. Be careful when purchasing AVG, and check the ingredients. Even the ones that say 100% AVG and natural sometimes contain alcohol and other unacceptable ingredients.
I use the cheapest brand of uncoated aspirin. I place about 5 in my palm, and quickly run them under the tap, just to get them wet and start them melting. Then I add a small dollop of AVG, mix it up with my finger until the aspirin have melted completely, and gently pat it onto my face.

| The active ingredient in aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid. This is similar to salicylic acid (aka beta hydroxy acid). So, there are two possible benefits one could get from these "aspirin masks:" 1) exfoliation and 2) anti-inflammatory effects. However, as many people know that have tried products containing salicylic acid, it can irritate some rosaceans. My guess would be that this is the gentlist way of testing out the effects of salicylic acid on your face because you get to control the proportion of the aspirin to whatever you're mixing it with and because, unlike all those OTC products, there's less of a chance of being irritated by one of the binders or other ingredients that make up the base. |

I would be very careful with this if you have rosacea as aspirin is basically salicyc acid which can be rough on rosacea skin. I tried the aspirin mask a few times awhile back and liked it too, but it made my face red. I asked Dr. Nase about it and he said it is better to go with an over the counter product if you can handle the SA as it will be PH balanced.
Just be careful!

Just wanted to let you guys know that I have been using the aspirin mask for about 3 weeks on a regular basis. In the past I only used it about once a month. But the past 3 weeks I have been using it 3 or 4 times a week.
I dissolve a couple of non coated aspirins with a little water in my hands. Then rub gentle over my face. I leave it on for about 5 minutes then rinse off. I then use olive oil as a moisturizer and my face feels great.
Using it has made a big difference in my Seb derm. There have been a couple of people to comment on how smooth my faced looked.
Hope this helps someone.

Hi Bonnie,
How has this affected, if at all, your rosacea?
Thanks,

It seems to help reduce breakouts. Of coarse with rosacea what works this month may not work next month.
I do not have burning flushes but for those who do this may help because it is very cooling. |

| Thanks for the detail on the cooling effect, I'm going to give it a try. I have very few p&p's, main problem is flushing nose, overall redness & burning sensation on chin. |

| I'm going to try this. Always thought that wthis would be too irritating for Rosacea skin. Aspirin does contain SA. |
